Deborah Clear has a doctorate in Higher Education from the University of Virginia. She was a Professor of Administrative Support Technology at Virginia Highlands Community College until becoming Dean of Business, Humanities & Social Sciences in 1996. She currently serves as Vice President of Instruction and Student Services. Dr. Clear served as co-chair of VHCC’s Foundations of Excellence in the First College Year project. She has served as Faculty Senate President, as a member of the Virginia Community College’s Chancellor’s Advisory Committee, and was the College’s nominee for the Tribute to Women in Education award. She also chaired the College’s Southern Association of Colleges and Schools reaffirmation self-study and has served on numerous SACS visiting committees.
