Evon Washington Walters, Ed.D.

He is the Executive Dean/Campus CEO of the Eastern campus of Suffolk County Community College. He brings over 14 years of experience in student and academic affairs administration. He previously served as the Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at Montgomery County Community College in Pennsylvania. Additionally, he has served as the Vice President of Student Services at Onondaga Community College (OCC) in Syracuse, New York, chairperson of the education department at Olivet College in Michigan, Dean of Multicultural Affairs at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts and as a Research Assistant at the University at Massachusetts at Amherst. His alma mater is the University of Massachusetts, where he completed his Doctorate, Master's and Bachelor's degrees.

He was a Fellow of the American Council on Education (ACE) for the academic year 2003-2004 and has participated in the 2004 American Association of Community College/Association of Community College Trustees Leadership Academy. His research interests in institutional transformation, student retention, and culture and equity issues in higher education have led to publications in journals such as: Journal of College Student Retention, Research, Theory & Practice, Community College Review, Student Affairs Journal, Trustee Quarterly, Community College Week, Excellence and Equity in Education and About Campus.

Active in national and community organizations, Dr. Walters is currently serving a two year term as a systems appraiser for the Academic Quality Improvement Program of the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association. He is a member of the American College of Personnel Association, Phi Delta Kappa International, Honor Society and Alpha Phi Fraternity, Inc.
